Present Progressive:

Was present progressive used in the chat above?
It was! "Palsm20: Hey Jen, checking my email..." People use present progressive almost every time they chat!
Present Progressive has two parts:
- the verb to be (example: am, is, are)
- verb infinitive with -ing ending (example: watching, checking)
- the basic, simple verb and add -ing
Here are some examples from chatting:
- What are you doing right now?
- I am sitting in front of the computer. Just chatting.
- I am not working right now. Message me later.
Can you tell how you use present progressive in questions?
You can use the pattern below:
- What + verb to be + person + verb -ing?
- What are you doing?
Next time you chat and you are talking about things right now use present progressive. You can use present progressive with:
- Things happening now!
- I am writing this lesson.
- Trends.
- More and more students are finding answers online.
- Things you always do!
- He is always coming in late.
