There’s something about movie scores that just really grabs your emotions, isn’t there? Well, imagine music that sounds like a movie score but is infinitely more complex and fronted by a beautiful, talented singer.

Then you’ve got Goldfrapp. The British duo led by Alison Goldfrapp is one of the biggest electronic acts in the world. Listen to Devan educate Marni on the subject.

Marni: So I was at the record store the other day looking for holiday gifts and I came across Goldfrapp and…

Devan: Oh, she’s awesome.

Marni: I don’t know her! And somebody I know was like, “Oh, I love that album” and I was like, “Wow, I feel so uncool.” So, what do you know about her? I’m totally intrigued.

Devan: Oh, she’s totally amazing. She’s from England, Madonna’s like her number one fan...

Marni: Really?

Devan: Yeah and she’s really huge around the world but in the US she hasn’t broken out as much but she’s really awesome.

Marni: I wonder why she’s not big here. I don’t know, are we just slow to catch on to new trends?

Devan: I guess so. She makes like electro pop music which is the poppy mainstream stuff in Europe, but here her music is more obscure. It’s kind of weird or avant-garde compared to US pop artists, but she’s really amazing. She’s got this crazy presence.

Marni: I kind of heard that. Like, you just see her and you’re so, you know, enthralled by her.

Devan: You should get that album for your friend. I guarantee you he’d love it.

Marni doesn’t know Goldfrapp, but she’s heard good things. Devan is a fan, and she says, so is Madonna, who is sometimes seen wearing a Goldfrapp t-shirt.

Goldfrapp plays electro pop, which is a style of music that isn’t as popular in the US as it is most other places. Goldfrapp seems really weird compared to American pop stars.

Devan says that Goldfrapp has a lot of presence and tells Marni her friend is bound to love a Goldfrapp CD as a gift.

Pop music is not bad for being a culture of society, it somehow presents what kind of music most people like to sing or listen at the moment. Meanwhile, it is very interesting to research back pop music at 20 ,30 or more 30 years ago, you would be wonder why and how did they have that time of pop music…..

now ,l like the english songs more and more,it can bring me another feel which is different from the pop music in china .there are many singer i like ,for example avril , jennifer lopez and so on.

Even in Sri Lanka Goldfrapp is not brocken out yet. But since i'm crazy about movies and music i use to keep in tabs on movies and music. My most favourite movie scores are "must have been love"(Pretty women),"Because you loved me"(up close and personal) and "my heart will go on"(Titanic)

It`s really luckly for Marni to come across Goldfrapp in the street. It must be enjoyable as imaging musics played in the background of movie.Goldfrapp is so popular in Europe that Madonna become it`s fan.Unluckly,It`s too difficult to buy records about movie score in china.I hope there will be more this kind of music in china in short futrue.
