This really is a comment on Fox News and not a comment on religion. (Really)
The sentence is saying “Fox News and the Republican party would have said that Jesus was dangerous if they had been alive at the time”.
Conservatives at the time did say that. Fox News and the GOP (the Republicans) are modern conservatives.
I’m not sure what you mean by “any other name calling will insult them”. What other name was used?

Jesus is God for Christians and any other name calling will insult them. It can’t be dusputed. The won’t harm you for this, God forbid! They just address God, the father, to forgive you.

Oh. I read it as a fair description of Fox News and the GOP.
