Some say it’s one reporter, some say it’s two reporters and some say it’s three. At least one reporter was shot and burned alive by a criminal gang when he reported about the political situation in Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince.

‘Reutlinger Nachrichten’ says that in Neuhausen (Baden-Württemberg/ Germany) members of a Christian group collected old Christmas trees from the streets of Neuhausen to earn money for the aid-organitation ‘Hilfe für Südhaiti e.V.’ and their project ‘Centre Lumière’ that helps young Haitians to get an apprenticeship in the textile industry. Here’s the bank account if you also wish to support them:

When I took the bus yesterday the bus driver had his radio on. I don’t know which channel this was, but a news reporter reported about Haiti: Did you know that many areas in Haiti there are daily reports of criminal gangs robbing and in some cases even murdering entire families – let alone the many acts of vandalism caused by them.

‘Reutlinger Nachrichten’ says that when 17 missionaries were taken hostage in Port-au-Prince by nationalists, the capital’s top cop resigned due to this being ‘too big for him’ and got replaced. However that also means that he won’t solve the case of the murdered president of Haiti. Somebody else will!

‘Tagesschau’ says that during an earthquake at least 1.300 people died and 5700 got heavily injured on the island of Haiti. Hotels, private buildings, schools and hospitals – including all the blood donations, medicine and other stuff the injured people would need now – got destroyed. Another problem is the storm ‘Grace’ that will make it even harder to find and save potential survivors still trapped underneath the ruins of these buildings. However as it seems Haitians profit from what they learned from the earthquake of 2010. For example instead of building makeshift camps for the survivors they now are removed to solid and undamaged real residences.
