This poem was in our Oriya (my native language) literature. I thought about translating and here's a version.
======================

No praise be to thee, O' Lord
======================

I'm not bowing to thee,
O' the God of Padre and Brahmin;
O' the God of Temple and Church,
O' the God of Maulvis and Mullahs;
I'm not bowing to thee.
My regrads are for those helpless folks,
The tears of whom bed'weds the pages of history.
Millions of those hapless, innocent heads,
Torn, ripped apart by thy minions;
Hopeless, folded hands extending in thy prayer,
O' the ever beneficent God,
Is this thy will;
When a father, a husband cries in agony,
Witnessing their daughter, wife being raped;
And you also witness it in remorseful silence.
Those barbarian messenger of thee,
Slaying the 'sinners'
In thy name, by thy order.
From thy heaven thee look,
And have been for all along human history;
Threats flow, billions slain, still men flee.
Countries upturned, races annihilated,
Folks flee from thy torturing preachers' band,
To save their skin, beloved land-house-money all behind.
So this rebel doesn't bow to thee,
He bows to the will of those
Those displaced, slain, shelterless-- for thy cause.
O' the God of benevolent hate!
Those minions of thee,
Severed-heads, tear-torrents, cries of despair,
Are their daily food;
And they build altars for thee.
Yes, for thee, O' the 'praiseworthy' emperor of emperors;
And thy minions flock and fill thy altars,
Praying, singing thy praise only;
Unmoved by zillion heart-rending cries, O' the best Barbarian!
You've heeded only the prayers of these murderers;
Did the White-men's despisable acts,
Escaped thy omnipresent sight?
Where humans were sold like commodities;
Where human-butchers pulled apart infants and lactating mothers;
Wives were separated from husbands and from fathers, their sons;
The menacing blood-stained lash,
On bare backs did it crash.
Yet the coffers of your loafers gets more and more shine;
By divine grace of thine.
Are the cries of these millions of tortured souls
So unworthy of thy high golden throne?
Lo! Here stands the pompous Church,
Of heartless beasts, bearing thy banner,
And within its finely engraved walls, the priest,
Brags of the mercy of the 'Father' in heaven;
and next moment spitting venom on heeden. (heeden=the faithless)
Incredible drama O' God, incredible!
And so, my dear non-existent God,
I bow in respect only for those men and women,
The homeless, tortured, poor folks trampled to earth.
All this is such a fake; fake fake conspiracy;
You're the worst blind belief of human mind.
*********
O' the need derived God,
O' the God of Church and Temple,
O' the symbol of blind disbelief,
Ever tortured, unhappy and cursed;
This rebel doesn't bow thee, doesn't bow to thee, doesn't bow to thee.....

Ahem I've been busy with varsity.

December 30, 2008

This Christmas, on 25th I had been to a cinema hall to see a film, Ghajini. I had a tuition just at the time while the film ends. So I hurriedly ran to my tuition and on the course I fell on the staircase and sprained my ankle badly. Now I couldn't move. They helped me home, there I lay, just brooding. Lying on the bed is even more painful than this sprain. To kill time I'm just playing sudoku, playing or browsing on my mobile. But you know what. I hd been treated by a quack for this sprain.. Ha ha ha. In fact for small diseases (which I don't consider as diseases) like head ache, light fever, joint pain etc. I never take pain killers or even go to a doctor. I let my body heal itself and I think this also makes my body immune system improve. So when I got this sprain I was reluctant to go to a doctor. Blah..... these doctors... they will tell you to get your leg X-rayed even in case of a ligament sprain. So I just kept on spraying my pain-reliever spray and slept. Since my pain and swelling didn't subside my uncle told me "Since you don't wanna go to a doctor I'll take you to a quack. I've seen many people cured by him." I didn't refuse and I repented later. This quack, first gave me some 'seka', that is he applied some high density oil (castor perhaps) and put a thick cloth over my sprain and moved a red hot iron rod over it. Owwwww.... Then his associate held my leg and he applied some foul smelling slimy substance there and dressed it with supports. Now I couldn't even move my leg easily. He had said come after 4 days. I went and he opened the dressing and said I'll have to dress it again. Hah... and see how business-minded the guy is. For the first time he charged us 225 Rs. and this time he charges 50 Rs. So that you can't just think of going elsewhere. But then there were a lot more customers out there. My body will heal the wound and he'll get the credit. Gawd...... But I clicked some pics of his clinic secretly. I'll post them when I get well... Mwa ha ha Have you ever had any experiences with any quack?

A World Terror Free

The D-day for the terrorists

That day, the grim Wednesday

When Mumbai was covered with the mist

Of blasts and blaze, of firing and killing.

The whole nation shook with fear and rage

As the police and army staked their lives

To free the hostages from the burning cage

Martyrs they are and will be etched in our hearts

The whole world comes together to lend a hand

To show that humanity is still not dead

That we will together fight these outlaw band

Be it heinous Al-Qaeda or ugly Lashkar-e-toeba

Come fellow Indians, my brothers and sisters

Come join hands together, for united we stand

Let’s show that it is our national identity that matters

Show those beasts, their acts only make us stronger

Teach the children ‘Who are humans and how to love’

Before you preach ‘Who is God and how to pray’

Embrace no bombs and guns but peace and dove

Know ‘Basudhaiva Kutumbakam’ before joining the fray

Impotency, pseudo secularity – the age old vices

Shed them; it is better to live just one day of life

Peppered with glory than shows of cowardices

And signs of fear; for years, decades, centuries

Remember bravery of thy ancestors and say ‘Jai Hind’

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I had an alternative title 'Indian 9/11' but this one was more suitable. I also had an alternative last stanza but this one made more sense... anyway that went like this

Impotency, pseudo secularity – the age old vice

Shed them; it is better to live just one day of life

Peppered with glory than centuries of life of mice

Filled with terror and dripping with cowardice.
