Intensive English Language Program
The Intensive English Language Program (IELP) at North Dakota State University (NDSU) is a full time, non-credit program in American English. The course is designed to develop skills needed for academic study and general use of the language in the United States. The course emphasizes:
- Speaking
- Listening
- Reading
- Writing
- Native English speakers
- Individual attention
- Progress reports
- One-on-one tutoring program
- University recreational facilities
- Option to take one university class (advanced undergraduate students with additional payment)
A Look at the Location
NDSU is located in Fargo, North Dakota, which with its twin city, Moorhead, Minnesota, has a population of about 185,000. Fargo provides big name entertainment at the Fargo Dome, cultural enrichment opportunities, and sport and recreational activities, such as golf, soccer, tennis, and baseball. Campus facilities include a swimming pool, weight lifting areas, running tracks, and volleyball and badminton courts. A Technology Center provides modern computer facilities and a university library provides research services. While at NDSU, students can take advantage of unique experiences such as attending a rodeo or a Native American Powwow. On weekends, students can take a four-hour drive north to Winnipeg, Canada or to the southeast to Minneapolis, Minnesota. North Dakota experiences variable weather, hot summers and cold winters, with many mild days in between. Fargo-Moorhead citizens take pride in their safe, peaceful and clean environment and they have an open, friendly attitude towards visitors from abroad. Perhaps that is why more than 950 international students and scholars from over 80 countries pursue their bachelor degrees and post graduate degrees at NDSU each year.
