ENGLISH, BABY! EXPANDS LEARNING TOOLS, TEACHER RESOURCES

Pop culture ESL site adds new features to premium membership to help its growing student and teacher populations.

Portland, O.R. - January 21, 2009

With slang vocab terms and audio and video of real conversations about popular culture, English, baby! (englishbaby.com) has long been the place on the Internet to learn authentic American English. But new features unveiled this month enable students to customize their learning and teachers to bring Ebaby! lessons to the classroom more easily.

Printable versions of the text and mp3s of the audio clips from the site's daily lessons are now downloadable to Super Members, who pay a $5 a month subscription fee. "Now users can take our lessons on the go and teachers can use them as lesson plans," says John Hayden, co-founder and CEO. "We've always been a resource online, and we're excited to be a resource offline too." Downloadable video will follow shortly.

In addition to increased networking opportunities from more prominent placement on the site, Super Members can also participate in special forums including Ask Ebaby! Teachers, where they can post English questions that will be answered by an English, baby! staff member within hours. With the number of super members increasing, the questions are rolling in. They range from querying the proper response to "what's up?" to a more advanced quibble between "crease" and "crinkle."

The site's nearly 1 million members have also been enjoying daily grammar points that spell out the nitty gritty in ways that won't put you to sleep. Think a note on -ing verbs in a lesson about Jennifer Hudson, who is blowing up because she's so good at acting and singing. These, as well as the topics of the site's nearly 3,000 lessons, will be categorized and labeled soon. What's so exciting about that? "It lays the groundwork for us to really personalize content for our Super Members and make sure that teachers can find what they need," says Hayden.

Visit http://www.englishbaby.com/findfriends/member/go_super for a complete list of Super Member perks and we'd be happy to give you a free super membership if you want to see if you'd be able to answer all the questions in the Ask Ebaby! Teachers forum. Some of them are pretty tricky!
