John:  So, did Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes finally have that baby?

Emily:  They did, and I heard they named it some crazy Hebrew name.

John:  Cool. And I heard something about the pregnancy, that, um, because Tom Cruise, he’s a Scientologist, there was some rumor about her not being able to make any noises while she was giving birth?

Emily:  So, I think this whole Scientology thing is a little wacky, and I think, um, Katie’s been totally brainwashed, and that she wasn’t even really carrying a child, and she was just wearing some sort of pregnancy thing.

John:  Like a costume?

Emily:  Yeah, like a costume, and that they commissioned someone to have this baby for them.

John:  So, wait! So, do you think that they’re actually married?

Emily:  Um, well, supposedly they’re not.

John:  Are they getting married?

Emily:  But isn’t her whole big thing that she was supposedly going to be a virgin until she got married? But then she was pregnant, like, three weeks later.

Discussion

Tom Cruise has received a lot of negative publicity over the past year. Many people say that he is getting weird because of his belief in Scientology, a pseudo-religious organization that tries to rehabilitate the human spirit. Scientologists focus on cleaning their bodies of toxins and bad chemicals. They do not drink alchohol or take drugs or medication. In 2005, Tom Cruise criticized actress Brooke Shields for taking anti-depressant medication.
