Can you say something about a common ground between a believer person with an atheist person …

Or are you thinking that both of them are a different species ..( and a different ancestor too )

They are equals in having faith about something.

Believers have faith in their God, and atheist have faith in the no existence of a God.

Both are different, but it´s the diversity who makes us enjoy this life. I wrote in a past topic, that life in Earth would be so boring if everyone likes the same things, and this can apply in your topic.

pop272001 I think what Joe means is that there is no reference to the existence of dinosaurs in the bible and if God is truth then why would such an extraordinary period of the earths history or of God's work be forgotten in the bible?

There are many different kinds of atheists.  Atheists, in general, do not necessarily have faith in anything.

"Atheist" just means somebody either doesn't worship the Abrahamic god, or doesn't worship any "gods".  It doesn't mean disbelief in entities, it just means refusal to be subservient to them (whether or not they exist)- a god is only a god when worshiped by a people; it is a relative concept.

Examples of several possible atheists:

Bob believes that YHWH/Allah exists, but believes that this being is evil and will not worship it.  Bob is an atheist.

Brian does not believe YHWH/Allah exists- he believes it is imaginary, and as such does not worship it.  Brian is also an atheist.

Billy has never heard of this thing called "YHWH/Allah", he grew up in a place where nobody learns of this concept.  As such, he does not worship this thing about which he knows nothing.

Bob and Brian disagree about whether YHWH/Allah exists,  and Billy has no idea what they're arguing about, but they are all three atheists because none of them actually worship this being.

Here we can get into terms such as "agnostic atheist" and "positive (or strong) atheist", but they are all technically atheists.

Some atheists believe in objective morality and reincarnation, ghosts, etc.  Some do not.  Atheists have very little in common with each other aside from the fact that none of them worship a 'god'.

So you see, an atheist does not necessarily have faith in anything at all.  Atheists can be even more varied in their beliefs than theists- though most simply lack faith where the religious presume it.

I think atheists are cool  Wink

I wouldn't go so far as to say atheists and believers are different species or had different ancestors. You can find believers and atheists within the same family lines, of course.

I do disagree with the supposition that we share the trait of faith. In a technical sense, yes. But the most common and formal use of the word "faith" when it comes to these types of things refers to a trusting belief in some supernatural reality or supreme being(s).

If atheists have "faith" in the fact that there is no god, it is because there has been and cannot really be, any credible proof of this. If such a proof were to exist, many/most? atheists, I suspect, would not dogmatically stick to their belief. Absent such proof, I choose to keep my mind free of such things.

I also don't believe in Bigfoot, aliens who built the pyramids, bridge trolls, wizards, or unicorns. Would you call that "faith" in their non-existence, or just good reasoning?
